The Data Analysis course provides a practical introduction to how data can be used as decision support in modern businesses. As technology evolves, data becomes increasingly accessible, and proper handling and analysis are essential for quality and efficiency.

The course covers:

• Basic Statistics: Variation in data, normal distribution, correlation, and regression.
• Data Collection: Methods for gathering, storing, and organizing data from various sources.
• Data Analysis: Assessing data quality, cleaning data, analyzing time series, and an introduction to big data and artificial intelligence.
• Using Data: Decision support, data-driven improvement, visualization techniques, and statistical process control.

Tools: Primarily Excel for analysis and visualization, with insights into other relevant tools.

The course Data Analysis is delivered as an online module with flexible learning options. Teaching combines live digital sessions, group work, and self-study. All learning materials, assignments, and resources are available through the school’s digital learning platform.

Workload:
Approximately 81 hours in total (27 hours per credit), including teaching, assignments, and self-study.

To be admitted to Fagskolen i Agder, the applicant must have completed vocational training with a certificate of apprenticeship / journeyman's certificate. Applicants who do not meet the requirements for general admission can apply for admission on the basis of  adequate experience.

The student must cover expenses for any printing of subject matter and study material. And the student must use their own PC with administrator rights and Microsoft Office.
